News of Davido publicly admitting he has a son in the UK broke out this morning, June 14, 2023 and sent netizens into a state of shock and confusion.
The popular afrobeats star is known to have two daughters, asides his late son, Ifeanyi who he lost at the age of 3 in October 2022.
So Davido stating that he has a son asides his late boy left many wondering who. The singer cleared the air by stating that his name is Dawson.
Here is a breakdown of who Dawson is and why this is the first time Davido has publicly acknowledged his existence.
Many are familiar with the speculations that Davido has another baby mama, Larissa London and son, Dawson, who he failed to acknowledge on social media.
In 2017, Davido and Dawson’s mother, Larissa sparked dating rumors while the singer was working in London. This was the same time Davido was publicly dating his current wife, Chioma Rowland, popularly known as Chef Chi.
The duo were seen together on several occasion, including the 2017 MOBO award show.
Speaking on how they met during a Q&A session with her followers in 2020, Larissa tersely narrated how she met the father of her child, Davido. She said, “We met four years ago. I was working as a makeup artist. That is where we first met.”
However, after the news of their relationship broke out in the media, neither Davido nor Larissa confirmed the rumours.
In 2020, rumours of Larissa London being pregnant with Davido’s son made the news and she had Dawson on March 22, 2020. This was about 5 months after Davido welcomed his first son Ifeanyi (now late) with Chioma Rowland.
When Larissa came online to announce that Davido is Dawson’s father, he, at the time, reportedly denied the boy and blocked Larissa on his social media accounts. It became a really messy situation with speculations flying around.
Fast forward to September 2021, a DNA test was reportedly conducted on Dawson and it revealed Davido is Dawson’s biological father.
This claim was made by gossip blogger, Cutie_Juls. The blog alleged:

Despite claims of the DNA conducted, it didn’t change anything for Davido. The Superstar Singer didn’t publicly reveal Dawson nor celebrate him online like his other kids.
Davido’s first and only public appearance with Dawson
However on August 7, 2022, Davido was spotted carrying his son Dawson at Pastor Tobi’s church, where they attended a church service together. This was the first time the Singer was publicly seen with Dawson.
Davido still did not publicly acknowledge Dawson until today, Wednesday (June 14, 2023). In a podcast interview, the singer said:
“I have a son. His name is Dawson and he lives in London right now.”
