Many important attachments have been hinged on the age of 40 as well as popular sayings— “A fool at 40 is a fool forever”, “Life begins at 40”, etc.

Forty is the age many expect a person to get serious with life, ‘settle down, build a life and family.

40 comes with a lot of pressure and expectations from many who look up to them as role models. No pressure, but here are popular Nigerian men in the entertainment industry who are over 40 and have never been married.

Timaya

Award-winning singer and songwriter, Inetimi Timaya Odon popularly known as Timaya has never looked back ever since he rose to stardom in 2005. Born 15 August 1980, Timaya is as single as they come.

The Port Harcourt born singer once dated popular actress, Empress Njamah and were in a messy breakup  before it blew over.

Timaya has four children — Emma, Gracey, Emmanuel, and Maya from three different relationships. His first baby mama and mother of Emma and Gracey is his ex-girlfriend, Barbara Nwokolo, a graduate of the Benson Idahosa University whom he dated earlier in his career.

While his second baby mama is Tamar, an interior decorator who he dated for a while, gave birth to his son in 2018.

The singer’s third baby mama is American-based artist, Dunnie.

Wale Ojo

Wale Ojo is a 54-year-old veteran British-Nigerian actor who started his career as a child star. He rose to fame for his role in The Hard Case (1995). He has since had multiple roles in film, TV and theatre in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

Wale Ojo revealed that numerous heartbreaks in his past were why he is still unmarried. Still, the actor would like to settle down with a lady someday, and he has no age restrictions for his potential wife.

The thespian once revealed he is from a broken home and that may be part of the reason he is taking his time to settle down. Wale Ojo has no children either.

Osita Iheme

Osita Iheme may appear and had even taken up the role of a child during the course of his career, but he is certainly not as young as many may assume him to be. This legend actor was born on February 20, 1982 — do the maths, unbelievable right? Yes. Osita is 40 years old and would clock 41 in less than a month.

He is more than eligible to have his own family but he doesn’t.

Back in 2015, the popular Nollywood actor and comedian, also known as PawPaw, made headlines after he announced he was making preparations for his wedding. Years down the line, and many still wonder whether or not the actor is married.

There is also no proof of the actor being married to any woman due to his tight-lipped nature regarding his relationship.

In 2017, it was reported that the comic actor got married to a Ghanaian actress, Nana Ama McBrown, but a few months later it was confirmed that it was not true. The actress in question is married with a kid.

Osita’s name has also been linked to a lady called Noma, but nothing is known about the lady.

To clear doubts, the actor in a recent interview revealed he had no plan of tying the knot with any woman. According to him, marriage is a significant step in life, and for him to toe that path, he would first find the perfect moment.

Uti Nwachukwu

Model, actor and TV presenter, Uti Nwachukwu started his career on the Nigerian reality show, Next Movie Star. After finishing second, he joined Big Brother Africa season 3 and later Big Brother Africa: All Stars (season 5), emerging as the winner.

He has over 30 acting credits and hosted Jara and The Real Housewives of Lagos Reunion. Uti is also an alternative rock musician.

Despite his achievement in the entertainment industry, Nwachukwu has been adamant about “settling” with a woman. Instead, he plans to choose a partner when he feels the time is right. The 40-year-old emphasised that he does not owe the public access to his private life.

Denrele Edun

Adenrele Oluwafemi Edun popularly known as Denrele has been in the film and TV industry since he was 11. He is best known as a television presenter who has won multiple awards for being a dynamic TV personality. He also acts occasionally, including starring in the 2014 film ‘Make a Move’.

The TV personality’s dating life has been subject to much scrutiny. Because of his flamboyant and effeminate outfits, fans have wondered about his sexuality.

41-year-old Denrele refuses to address rumours surrounding his sexual orientation, saying that he enjoys the mystery.

He has, however, stated that he would like to settle down and get married when the time is right.

In an interview on January 21, 2023, Denrele recounted how his ex-girlfriend broke up with him on Valentine’s Day. In another interview in 2021, the media personality revealed he has dated only women and he hated the only time he tried to date a man.

In all, Denrele Edun is single and without kids.

Nonso Diobi

Nonso Diobi made his acting debut in 2001 but gained critical acclaim following his role in Across the Bridge (2005). Over 21 years in the film industry, Diobi has been in many Nollywood movies and won multiple awards.

In a 2021 interview with BBC News Igbo, Diobi stated that he is interested in getting married someday.

The 46-year-old claimed only a few women would be patient with his actor lifestyle, which often involves a lot of travel. He stated that he was dating someone whose identity he wouldn’t reveal, and they were trying to figure out how it would work for them. It’s been over two years, and we are yet to hear wedding bells ring.

Asides marriage, Nonso Diobi welcomed a son in November, 2019 but nothing is known about his child’s mother.
