Royal Guard Collapses Next To Queen Elizabeth’s Coffin During Her Lying-In- State (Video)

A contingent palace guard who was standing close to Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin during her lying in state at Westminster Hall collapsed and fell hard to the ground on Wednesday.

In the viral video making the rounds, the guard, who was dressed in a black uniform, appeared to have stumbled from his position on the catafalque, an elevated platform where the Queens’ remains were placed.

He was unsteadily standing close to the Queen’s coffin, but he got back and took his place. The crowd gasped when he abruptly fell to the ground, landing on his face a while later.

However, two men ran to assist him as his cap came off, exposing a head of white hair. The BBC, which was streaming live the lying in state of Queen Elizabeth, suspended the live footage following the breakdown of the guards.

Late Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-reigning British monarch, died peacefully on September 8, 2022, at the age of 96, after reigning for 70 years.

The full day of the Queen’s lying in state is Thursday, giving people an opportunity to bid goodbye to the late Mornach, known for her unwavering sense of duty.
