Lion Kills Man Who Jumped Into Enclosure In Ghana
An unidentified man who was believed to be in his thirties was reportedly attacked by a lion in Ghana, and later died on Sunday, following the injuries he sustained after jumping over the security fences of the zoo in Accra, the capital of Ghana.
According NDTV, this information was disclosed in a statement by the forestry commission, the state agency in charge of wildlife in Ghana.
However, the press release did not divulge the victim’s motivations for scaling the fence and landing in the lion’s enclosure.
The statement reveals that the victim was attacked by one of the lions in the fenced enclosure and later died of injuries.
While the media house can’t fathom how the victim got into the lion’s enclosure, the Ghana Police spokesperson told AFP that they’re investigating how the man got into the restricted area.
The Accra Zoo in Ghana, where the incident initially happened, was first established by Ghana’s first president, Kwame Nkrumah, in the early 1960s.
The wildlife resource center was later opened to the public in 1996 when the former president was overthrown.
