Fans Criticize Davido For Not Signing Mavin’s New Singer, Bayanni
Fans have criticized singer Davido, for not giving Mavin Records’ latest signing Bayanni , a record deal before now.
The youngster who went viral last year for his cover of Davido’s 2020 song “Jowo” was on Tuesday unveiled as the latest addition to the label’s roaster.
He had shared a picture taken with the Davido on his Twitter page in May. In the caption, he described him as “an inspiration and a help to many.”
Shortly after the unveiling, Davido quoted Don Jazzy’s announcement tweet writing: “So happy for him …. God bless u don baba.”
Don Jazzy thanked the “Stand Strong” singer for his good wishes but fans were not impressed with many chiding him for not scooping up the 20-year-old when he had the chance.
“Why you no sign him David?,” asked one user.
“I actually thought David was going to sign him tbh, cause I saw him hanging out with David a lot,” noted another.
This comes after Davido suggested that he and rapper Olamide receive presidential honours for their role in nurturing artists in the Nigerian music industry.
The issue was brought up by a fan who suggested in a now viral tweet that the two artists be honoured for their contributions to the Nigerian music industry.
“Davido and Olamide deserve national honours. Only the two of them have have singlehandedly created ‘sustained stars’ without godfather help [sic] and have made many millionaires,” the post read.
The ‘Stand Strong’ singer then reposted it on his Instagram Stories and tagged Olamide.
He wrote: “Next president gotta fix up @olamide.”
