Late Alaafin’s Daughter, Dedoja Adeyemi Makes Acting Debut In Kunle Afolayan’s Anikulapo Movie (Video)
-A real princess who acted as one (Ajoke) in Anikulapo!
While netizens got stoked over the trailer of Kunle Afolayan’s Anikulapo Netflix original movie scheduled to be released on September 30th, 2022, we can’t help but notice a debutant in Queen Adedoja Adeyemi, daughter of the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi.

The princess delved into acting shortly after bagging a Master’s Degree from the University of Lagos in January. Adedoja made this known in an Instagram post where she announced her voyage into the Nigerian movie industry.
She shared photos with Nollywood thespian, Faithia Balogun and seasoned filmmaker, Kunle Afolayan
“I played Princess Ajoke in my acting debut…..ANIKULAPO (Death & Life, The Rebirth of Identity), a Kunle Afolayan film.” She captioned.
Kunle Afolayan has developed the knack for giving acting debuts to the most unlikely personalities one can fathom – Temi Otedola’s role in Citation gave her the perfect entrée in the acting scene as well as singer cum actress, Niyola’s breakout in the 2021 movie, Swallow.
While the renowned director opens the floor for new acts, he is also passionate about resurfacing older actors from the previous generation.
Reconnecting and working with the veterans in the industry is something I am passionate about, Kunle noted while mourning late veteran actor, Alabi Yellow who died in 2019.
Anikulapo – Death & Life, The Rebirth of Identity

The new Netflix offering, ‘Anikulapo’ is an epic movie that captures the richness of the Yoruba culture. The Kunle Afolayan film centers around a young man, Saro Anikulapo played by Kunle Remi with the power of resurrection. Saro wanders into a village as a simple craftsman and his superpower would earn him the Anikulapo Monika.
Like the story of Jesus’s death and resurrection, Anikulapo’s powers made him a resounding force in the kingdom and this got him at loggerheads with the powers that be.
Despite his travails, Anikulapo finds love in a woman whose strange habits cause her to be described as a man-eater. In the fast-paced trailer, Kunle Afolayan’s masterpiece leaves viewers whetting to see if the one who holds death can save himself.
