The man who killed rapper, Nicki Minaj’s father has been sentenced to one year in prison. Nicky’s father, Robert Miraj, died last year following a hit-and-run-accident in Long Island aged 64.
He was taken to the hospital in critical condition but did not make it.
Now the man responsible, Charles Polevich, has been sentenced to jail after pleasure guilty. He fled the scene of the accident is thought to have ‘covered up’ the car and in his carriage and reportedly ‘did things’ to make it difficult to locate the car.
But police officers traced the car to his home using ‘several pieces of video.’ He later turned himself in and pled guilty to two felony charges- leaving the scene of an auto accident and tampering with evidence.
He was facing a seven-year sentence but has now been sentenced to one year in jail. His license will also be suspended and he has been ordered to pay a $5,000 fine, TMZ reports. The rapper paid tribute to her late father in a post shared to Instagram in June.
She wrote: ‘Tho I can’t really bring myself to discuss the passing of my father as yet; I can say it has been the most devastating loss of my life [sic],’
‘I find myself wanting to call him all the time. More so now that he’s gone. Life is funny that way.’
‘May his soul rest in paradise. He was very loved & will be very missed.’
