Headies: Why Has Burna Boy Not Been Disqualified ? – Tepid reactions Trail Portable’s Axe
Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable has lost his Headies Award nomination following the recent spate of legal troubles the Zazu crooner is enmeshed in.
The organizers of the award had nominated Portable for the rookie of the 15th edition of the award alongside AV, Fave, Magixx and Ugoccie. The breakout star made the cut due to his viral Zazu track last Christmas.
The nomination, however, raised dust on social media as many believe the street singer isn’t worth a nomination shot at the apex music awards platform in Nigeria. Portable, in his usual manager, did not prove his naysayers wrong as he would later come out to threaten the awards platform to hurt whoever wins the award ahead of him.

Citing Portable’s recent unguarded statement of being the founder of crime gangs in Lagos, the Headies organizers have decided the axe the singer from the nomination list. The move, however, was met with mixed feelings from netizens who believe other acts like Burna Boy should be getting such treatment due to his link to a recent shootout in a popular Lagos club.

Portable’s Reaction
Portable in reaction to headies ban has remained unperturbed. The singer in a video released shortly after his disqualification, he noted that all that matters to him was his core fanbase, his talent and wealth.
Reacting to the news of his disqualification, the controversial singer in an Instagram video called the award organisers bluff.
“I am a child of light. I have fame, I have money, I have cars, I have wives, I have children. I am rich. People know me everywhere. I don’t regret my actions”, the singer said in a video while being caressed by his new wife.
