Veteran Yoruba Gbenga Richards, a Nollywood actor, is dead. The Nollywood icon reportedly passed away on Thursday morning, May 12, 2022, after battling a longtime ailment.

The late actor was reportedly suffering from diabetes and other related ailments. PM News reported that his colleagues and friends solicited funds to cater to his welfare before his sudden demise.

The actor left a legacy in Nollywood despite not getting his due flowers from fans and the industry alike.

Gbenga whose reigns were in the early 2000s was known for playing action roles that – in fairness, were way ahead of his time, compared to acceptable standards in Nollywood today. With the benefit of hindsight of course.

3. The actor who was reported to have died in his 60 first appeared as an actor while representing Nigeria with African Theatre doyen, Hubert Ogunde at the Second World Black and African Festival of African Culture (FESTAC) in 1977

4. Gbenga Richard was married to actress Florence Richard for 15 years. No information the actor’s children, and other family members is available. He is known for a secretive personal life. He was reported to have died in his 60.
