Afrobeats: Mavin All Stars, Davido, Asake, Burna Boy, Others Set To Release New Music Friday
Afrobeats may have had a slow start to the year compared to 2021 where we have a crammed top 10 list before the end of the first quarter.
With the first quarter of 2022 gone and quite a handful of projects released so far, Nigerian sensations are set to fill up the country’s air space with new singles on Friday, May 13, 2022.
Don Jazzy’s ‘Suicide Squad’ in Rema, Magixx, Ayra Starr, Boy Spice, and Crayon are set to release Overdose, an All-Star track for the label – A classic Don Jazzy.
Afrobeats heavyweights, Davido and Burna Boy are also billed to release new tracks entitled Stand Strong and Last Last respectively. What makes Davido’s new release worth the anticipation is the fact that the singer has hinted at ongoing orchestral as he features US choir, The Samples.
Other releases worth noting is Dj Spinall’s Palazo featuring Asake; Zinoleesky’s Loving you; Yung L’s Jo and Ria Sean’s Thai Food.
Meanwhile, Nigerian singers, Kizz Daniel and Victony have saturated the music charts with their newly released projects.
Kizz Daniel’s Buga sails in at No. 1 on music charts across 13 country and has become the third most shazammed songs in the world. While budding act, Victony goes personal with his Outlaw EP – A project that easily does an 8/10.
“In my position as an artist, many people would want to tell you how to live your life and what to do at different points,” Nigerian rapper, singer and songwriter Victony tells Apple Music.
“Everybody has an opinion [regarding] what you should do. And I just want to be myself. But it seems like being yourself, especially in this part of the world, it’s sort of a crime. And I’m like—if being myself is a crime, then I’m an outlaw.”
