Deyemi Okanlawon Narrates How His Role In Netflix’s Blood Sisters Affected Him For Months

Oftentimes we’ve seen actors open up on the struggles of jolting out of a role completely different from their personae, especially dark roles in movies.

Despite his cameo appearance in the crowd-pleasing series, Blood Sisters, Nollywood actor, Deyemi Okanlawo, has found himself in the crop of role interpreters whose characters left lingering effects on their mental health.

The actor who played Kola Ademola in the Netflix blockbuster series, Blood sisters has narrated his ordeal months after acting the role of an abusive partner.

Taking to social media, the movie star said “Kola Ademola definitely affected me more than I care to admit and it took months to get to a semblance of normalcy.”

Deyemi also noted that he caught himself going against his standards as he empathized with ‘abusers’ he believes should be condemned to damnation.

“Strangely while I still firmly believe aggression should be met with justice, I now empathize with ppl who carry such demons”

‘Blood Sisters’ is a four-part Netflix Show directed by Biyi Bandele and Kenneth Gyang and produced by Mo Abudu’s Ebony Life Studios.

Set in Lagos, “Blood Sisters” encapsulates the life of two best friends Sarah (Ini Dima-Okojie), and Kemi (Nancy Isime).  The pair became fugitives after Kemi accidentally kills Sarah’s groom hours before her engagement party.

Speaking on the success of Netflix’s first Nigerian Series, Twitter users applauded the roles of Nollywood stars.

Commending Ramsey Noah’s performance, @Sena_tour wrote, “Blood sisters is out. The very first episode is living up to my expectations, more like it exceeded it.

The opening scene was so different and promising. Hopefully it just doesn’t stop being good. The acting is really great too. Ramsey Noah giving hitman bodyguard vibes.”

In the same vein @Austeiin tweeted, “Ramsey Noah is one of the few Nigerian actors that will go for more than 30 minutes in a movie without uttering a sound just expression and you will still get his message, and the acting will go BAM! #BloodSistersNetflix.”

Lauding Kate Henshaw for her role in the movie, @niaintinine said, “#BloodSisters This has to be one of the best performances ever by Kate Henshaw. She embodied the different sides of her character excellently. 10/10 for me.”
