Drake Joins Diddy, Jay Z On List Of Richest Rappers As He Signs New Massive UMG Deal

Canadian rapper Drake has secured a major bag by signing a fresh contract with Universal Music Group. The Champaign Papi has inked a $400 million (About N166Bn in parallel rates) 360 deal that covers everything from music recordings to visual media projects. UMG chairman Sir Lucian Grainge confirmed the “LeBron sized” contract on Wednesday.

Per Richest.com, OVO had made mention of the cool cash he’d be making in the new massive deal.

On Lemon Pepper Freestyle from his 2021 EP Scary Hours 2, the 6 God raps, “Three-sixty upfront, it all comes full circle,” which sounds like a nod to his massive deal. He directly mentions the contract on the Migos track Having Out Way, when he spits the line: “Billionaires talk to me different when they see my pay stub from Lucian Grainge.”

It’s only reasonable for UMG to retain the services of God’s Plan singer owing to the fact that he is one of the world’s best-selling music artists with over 170 million records sold— and he’s ranked as the highest-certified digital singles artist in the United States by the RIAA.

Drizzy was the most-streamed artist of 2021 in the United States, with 8.6 billion on-demand streams. That means one out of every 131 streams was a Drake song.

Drake’s net worth per online sources is pegged at $200 million and this new blockbuster deal will put him on par with the likes of Sean “Diddy” Combs and Jay Z who are in the league of richest hip hop stars.

However, The Champaign Papi would have to sign a couple more cheques to match Kanye’s staggering $2billion fortune.
