Why I Chose Unilag Over Uniben – Rema Opens Up On Going Back To School (Video)
Nigerian singer and Rave of the moment, Divine Ikubor, professionally known as Rema has revealed why he chose the University of Lagos (Unilag) for his undergraduate studies.
The self-styled ‘Flyest kid in Africa’ made this known in an interview with media personality, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on Rubbing Minds.
Recall the Mavin act gained admission to study Theatre Arts at the University of Lagos in November 2021. However, Rema is yet to resume as a fresh student due to the lingering ASUU strikes that have kept state-owned universities under lock and key for months.
Warming up for the 18minutes session, Ebuka started by referring to Unilag’s frolicking with Rema on social media, asking the singer why he made the school his first choice.
Rema replied saying ‘I live in Lagos and I feel it is closer’
Ebuka chimed in agreement with Rema’s reason for choosing Unilag over Uniben. The Edo State-born star mildly disappointed his kinsmen for not returning home to study.
Also, Ebuka didn’t miss the chance to ask the superstar why he chose to go back to school despite his fame and success. Rema on the other hand gave a fitting response:

“Because you learn every day. I feel there are things life can teach you and there are things you learn in school.”
He noted that going back to school gives him the chance to ‘be around youths, it’s a whole new feel and energy’
Lastly, Rema revalidated his mom’s role in his pursuit of a degree in the interview. Recall the Calm Down crooner attributed his Unilag admission to his mom.
“What if I told y’all I got an admission into Unilag? Lol, Mom said I still need to get a degree sigh, oh well see you guys in class!”
