Reactions as Elon Musk Buys Twitter For $44 Billion


World’s richest man Elon Musk has completed the purchase of microblogging platform Twitter In a cash deal of $44bn.

Twitter has announced that the social media company will be sold to Tesla tycoon Elon Musk.

Mr Musk will pay $54.20 cash per share for the San Francisco-based platform, which will now be taken private after days of intense negotiations between the entrepreneur and the board.

Musk had taken a major stake in the firm earlier this month before lining up last week some $46.5 billion in financing to push forward with the purchase.

The feisty new owner took to the platform to announce his recent purchase shortly after the deal was made public on Monday.

Mr. Musk who has also propagated the gospel of free speech has said that even his worst critics are welcome on the platform because of is “what free speech means”

Twitter board chair Bret Taylor said the body “conducted a thoughtful and comprehensive process to assess Elon’s proposal with a deliberate focus on value, certainty, and financing,” according to the statement.

“The proposed transaction will deliver a substantial cash premium, and we believe it is the best path forward for Twitter’s stockholders.”

In the Nigerian point of view, Twitter NG reacted to the news of the new owner. Many accounts told Elon Musk’s  parvenu story of being a South African migrant who now has the world at his beck and call.
