*THIS IS A STORY OF HOW A GIRL FROM THE SLUMS MET THE GOVERNOR!*

My name is Miracle Olawale Olatunde and this is my story.

This weekend has been a roller coaster of emotions for me. First of all, I was presented to his excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde , the executive Governor of Oyo state, as the Overall Best Graduating Student out of about 24,000 graduands who were awarded first degrees during the 14th Combined Special Convocation at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Nigeria!

I think I am rushing this story. A trip down memory lane will help you understand this story better. Some 25 years ago, my father wrote a letter to my mum asking her to terminate my pregnancy and never to contact him again! That was the last time she heard anything from him. My mother, Mrs Bose Ayangunna, literally broke her back to single-handedly sponsor my education and provide me with the basic things of life. She would go through any length to make sure I got the things I needed. She would send me all of her meager civil servant- based salary to pay for one project or the other in school. I owe all of this to her! It was tough but with the help of the Almighty God, we pulled through.

I am sure by now you, my dear reader, understand how I felt, overwhelmed with joy in my heart when I stood beside the governor, thinking back to all the struggle I had to endure to get there. I remember crying uncontrollably when the national anthem was going on, standing in a hall filled with dignitaries, Kings and Queens, the Chancellor, the Vice Chancellor, Deans, Honorary Awardees, PhD holders and with thousands of other people watching through their screens.

Fast forward to this weekend, it all started with a tweet I made (which now has over 10,000 likes!😱). The tweet went viral and I started getting calls that I was on one blog, news channel or the other. Until I got the call asking if I was available to meet the governor! OF COURSE, I AM AVAILABLE TO MEET THE GOVERNOR!!! 😄

I am so grateful to God that finally, the world got to know my name and hear my story. The “unwanted pregnancy“ is now being sought after by the world! THIS SMALL GIRL FROM THE SLUMS MET THE GOVERNOR!

I know this is just the beginning of great things for me! I look forward to all the beautiful opportunities life has to offer!
