Manchester City retained their one-point lead at the top of the Premier League in a Special Sunday clash with title rivals Liverpool that ended in an enthralling 2-2 draw.

Blazing Kevin De Bruyne continues his rich vein of form as he put the champions into a fifth-minute lead at the Etihad Stadium but Diogo Jota levelled eight minutes later for the Reds.

Gabriel Jesus restored City’s lead before the break with a deft finish in a 1v1 against Allison, but Sadio Mane marked his 30th birthday with a second equaliser for Jurgen Klopp’s men in an oscillating match that ended in a draw.

Raheem Sterling had a goal ruled out for offside in the second half and Riyad Mahrez wasted a glorious chance in added time.

Liverpool failed to usurp the champions after reducing 14points lead to 1 with 8 games left before the season ends on May 22. The title is still up for grabs as both gaffers expect the other to drop points as they waltz through the last few matches of the 2021/2022 Premier League season.
