Nigerian Female Stars Who Went On Maternal Breaks

0

No matter one’s responsibility and schedule, the need to make his family a major priority is essential in building a peaceful and healthy family. As lovers of stars in the entertainment industry, we are aware of the fact that working in the industry as a family woman is hectic, which is unarguably one of the many reasons why our favorite celebs aren’t in a civil union.

Nonetheless, they are celebrities who, at some point in life, deemed it necessary for them to take a professional career break to raise a home.

Regina Daniels

Nollywood actress and fashion icon, Regina Daniels, is yet another celebrity on our list who put a hold on her professional acting career to raise her kids.

Regina Daniels, who started making movies at the age of 7 before she got married to Nigerian billionaire and business tycoon Ned Nwoko, left the big screen after she announced her pregnancy.

On May 31, 2020, Ned announced that they were expecting a child together. On June 29, 2020, they welcomed their first child together.

The screen siren took a break from the big screen to fulfill her motherly duty by raising her child. But that didn’t stop her from making headlines, as she trended on several occasions for her extravagant lifestyle and quest to be the best mother.

The 21-year old entrepreneur made a queen-like return to the movie industry earlier this year as she stormed the internet with a gorgeous photo of herself on a movie set.

Currently, she has three movies under production: “The Pregnant Blind Girl,” “The Beautiful Orange Seller,” and “Sins of My Mother.”

Mercy Johnson

Mercy Johnson Okojie is another film actor who has managed to strike a balance between her career and family. The mother of four has put a hold on her career on several occasions, especially when she was an expectant mother and when raising her toddler.

Mercy Johnson and her husband welcomed their fourth child, a daughter, Angel Onosetale Okojie, on May 4, 2020.

She took a break from the movie screen for a while before returning to the movie industry where she has co-starred with top actors like Toyin Abraham and Destiny Etiko.

Although she is not actively involved in acting, her strong presence on social media has continued to keep her in the public eye.

Simi

Nigerian songstress Simi left the music scene in 2020 after announcing that she would be expecting a baby with her singer-husband, Adekunle Gold.

On April 9th, 2020, she released a hit single titled “Duduke” where she flaunted her growing baby bump and expressed the joy of becoming a mother. However, on May 30, 2020, she welcomed her first child, Adejare, which led to her absence from the music industry.

After celebrating Adejare’s first birthday, Simi returned to the industry with full energy and she blessed her fans with another mind-blowing song titled, “Woman,” which has gone to the top of the charts across different music streaming platforms.
