Davido Promises A Better Time In London Concert
Nigerian superstar David “Davido” Adeleke is ready to shut down the O2 Arena in London on Saturday, 5 March 2022. The event will be Davido’s third show at the Arena, this time around he is promising a better time.
Without dropping an album in 2021, Davido dominated headlines in Nigeria with outstanding features, catchy slangs, and an unprecedented fundraiser for his birthday. However, in that time, Davido has watched his peers at the top of the Nigerian Music scene, Wizkid and Burna shut down the O2 Arena multiple times.

Among the Nigerian online music audience, greatness and primacy are dictated by these four events; winning a Grammy, getting gold and platinum certifications, charting on billboard and of course selling the 02 Arena. On Thursday 3 March 2022 the O2 Arena’s Twitter account posted that Davido had sold out the Arena much to the joy of the 30BG fandom.

Preparations for the concert have been fever pitch. Legendary American Actor, Morgan Freeman voiced the promo for the event, “We rise by lifting others” he said, and literally Davido has been lifting others to London.
Reports circulated around the web that the Fall hitmaker flew the mother of his son and muse of the Assurance video, Chioma Rowland, and their son Ifeanyi to London in a private jet. Pictures of Davido’s siblings with him in London have also made the rounds on social media. It is also rumored that the whole of the 30 BG crew will make their presence felt at the concert.

Expectations are high for Davido at his concert, back in December 2021, his perennial rival Wizkid put the world on notice with back-to-back sold-out shows at the O2 Arena. Seemingly aware of the pressure, Davido is leaving nothing to chance, even going ahead to fly his jeweler and budding American superstar and expected performer at the Concert, Yung Bleu all the way from the United States.
Since releasing A Better Time Davido has seen his contemporaries achieve global stardom. Wizkid and Ckay dominated the Billboard 100 charts, Burna Boy brought back a Grammy, Fireboy and Goya Menor shut down social media and European charts with Peru and Ameno Amapiano remix respectively. With this concert set to be the forerunner to his next album, Davido needs to remind everybody of his global afrobeats dominance which he helped pioneer with the release of Fall and If in 2017.
On the whole, the concert is a big plus for afrobeats, the big players have repeatedly sold out the 20,000 capacity Arena, a feat that most British artistes wouldn’t dare to attempt. The message to the outside world is clear, Nigerian music is the sound of the future. The message to the Nigerian music scene is this, if Davido, Wizkid, and Burna boy can sell out Arenas in Europe, Rema, Fireboy, BNXN (Buju), Lojay, Ayra Starr, Ckay, Joeboy and Zinoleesky can too.
